Adobe has announced the much anticipated Photoshop app for tablet computers but it won’t be available for iPad. The initial release will only be available for Android tablets.
Perhaps one of the most frustrating aspects of trying to do any type of web design work on a tablet computer is the absence of image editing software. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has Adobe Photoshop on the top of my wishlist for tablet apps and it appears those wishes have come true.
Photoshop Touch is a tablet computer application for transforming images with familiar Photoshop features like layers, selection tools, adjustments and effects. Adobe has taken advantage of the unique characteristics of tablet devices with features like Camera Fill which feeds a live stream from your device camera into an active layer or selection.
Photoshop Touch isn’t just a watered down port of Photoshop, it’s an entity of it’s own, designed top down for tablet computers running Android Honeycomb 3.1 and above.
Key Features
- Work with core Photoshop tools designed for tablets.
- Use your tablet camera to fill area on a layer.
- Select part of image to extract by scribbling.
- Perform Google searches and share images on Facebook right in the app.
- Auto-sync files to PC or Mac and open in Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop Touch for Android will be priced at $9.99 and will be available soon. To be notified of it’s release, visit the Adobe Photoshop Touch official page and signup.
